Diana Diaz, born in San Jose, Costa Rica,
trained in Miami with Pepe Bronce, Vivian Tobio, Maria Eugenia
Lorenzo, and Manuel Castro. At New World School of the Arts, Diana
performed works by Gerard Ebitz, Michael Uthoff, and Robert Battle,
performing as a soloist with the Pepe Bronce Flamenco Company at the
2nd Annual Flamenco Festival in Costa Rica, and in the commercial
dance industry with Manuel Castro. In February 2004, Diana performed
alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov at the Gusman Center, in the piece Mr.
XYZ. Also in 2004, she appeared in Tango Undressed with Miami
Contemporary Dance Company. Upon graduating from NWSA with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in dance in 2005, Diana joined Miami
Contemporary Dance Company as a company dancer. She has danced roles
in Tango Undressed, When Words Pour Down, The Death of García Lorca,
Your Blood, My Blood, Love without Permission, Asiasong on our Soil,
Intimate, and in the New Works choreographer’s workshop, as well as
touring Argentina with MCDC. She teaches at Miami Contemporary Dance
School and DanceTown, and continues to perform in a variety of TV
work. This is Diana’s fourth season with Miami Contemporary Dance
Company.
